The 5D Mark III had slightly higher resolution (22MP vs 20MP), but in almost every other detail the 6D’s sensor was superior. Shadow recovery, noise, high ISO performance, color science, and dynamic range were all better than the 5D Mark III, leaving me to write that article on why I chose the 6D over the 5D Mark III.
Options. 09-25-2022 11:37 AM. Actually the 5D Mark IV has 41 AF Points at F/8 the 6D Mark II has 27 AF Points at F/8. Also does the OP need dual card slots. If they need dual card slots the 5D Mark IV is the better choice. Also the 5D Mark IV offers 4K video over 1080p video that the 6D Mark II offers.

For more cameras (derived from DxOMark data) see DxOMark Photographic Dynamic Range Chart. However, data on this chart, when available, is considered to be more accurate. Note that the x-axis is ISO Setting and not a "measured" value. Keep this in mind particularly when comparing to the Ideal lines. Data in tabular form is in the resizable

The improvement diminishes as sensitivity is increased, however the Mark IV still out-performs the Mark III at the highest ISO, with a dynamic range of 6.2 EV vs 5.4. The Canon 5D Mark IV's

Similarly, Bill Claff has measured the engineering dynamic range of the 6D Mark II to be 11.1 EV at the pixel level, at 12.7 at ISO 160 for the 5D Mark IV (its highest dynamic range). So those 6D II and 5D IV figures are off by a stop.
Canon’s EOS C300 Mark III has 16 stops of dynamic range and shoots up to 120fps 4K Cinema RAW Light. The iPhone 12 Pro boasts more dynamic range than the Canon EOS R5 in iOS beta. Comparing the Canon EOS R, EOS RP, EOS R5 and EOS R6 head-to-head for portraits. Canon 6D Mark II dynamic range results are disappointing
However, for many Canon 6D shooters out there who wanted to upgrade their cameras, the Canon 6D Mark II was a highly desired choice, thanks to more resolution (26.2 MP vs 20.2 MP), faster continuous shooting (6.5 fps vs 4.5 fps), much more capable autofocus system (45-point all-cross type AF vs 11-point AF with single cross-type sensor), fully
Here's the Nikon D750 @ 25,600 vs the 5d mark iv @ 25,600, both with 50 luminance NR in lightroom. Very similar. Note: for some reason the NR looks worse in the exported jpeg from the 5d mark iv than what I see in lightroom before export. Not sure why. When viewing in lightroom there's less of a difference. .
